WOODBRIDGE – A township man has been charged with exchanging sexually explicit messages with a 12-year-old boy and sending explicit photos of himself after receiving a lewd photo of the youngster.
Zachary Motta, 22, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge, was charged on Feb. 24 with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of child pornography, according to a statement prepared by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department.
Motta was employed as an emergency medical technician at a hospital in New Brunswick and served with the Iselin Volunteer Fire Company, according to officials.
Between October and February, Motta allegedly had sexually explicit conversations on the internet with the boy. The boy and the defendant also reportedly traded lewd photos of themselves, according to the statement.
The investigation began after the boy’s mother contacted authorities.
Motta was charged at his home during an investigation by Detective Anna Radowski of the Woodbridge Police Department and Detective Christopher Pennisi and Detective Joseph Chesseri, both of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
