The Fourth Annual Rook Run (and walk) registration announced

LONG BRANCH — Rook Coffee has partnered again with The Valerie Fund to announce The Fourth Annual Rook Run (and walk) presented by World Subaru on Oct. 8, 2017.

The 5K run and newly added one-mile walk will take place at 10 Ocean Ave., at The Great Lawn Amphitheatre section of the Long Branch Boardwalk, located between Cooper and Madison Ave., just north of Pier Village in Long Branch. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Participants may register online at rookrun.com. Early registration begins on March 1 and is $35 for runners and walkers. Adult registration includes food, beverages, an official Rook Run (and walk) t-shirt, swag bag and race-day activities. Children 12 years old and under may register for $25.

All proceeds from The Rook Run (and walk) support The Valerie Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide comprehensive healthcare for children with cancer and blood disorders. There are seven Valerie Fund Children’s Centers treating over 6,000 children in the tri-state area, including one at The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.

In 2016, The Third Annual Rook Run saw approximately 3,000 participants, nearly 50 sponsors, and raised more than $213,000. Over the past three years, The Rook Run has raised nearly half a million dollars in support of The Valerie Fund’s mission. This year’s fundraising goal is $350,000.
