The Hazlet Land Use Board met on March 2 to discuss the Tim Hortons restaurant on Route 35.

The owners of Tim Hortons seek an amended site plan and variance to construct a larger monument sign in the same location.

According to shop owner, Willi Girgis, customers have complained about not seeing the Tim Hortons sign in the area and had difficulty locating the restaurant.

Jeffrey Chang, a lawyer representing the owners of the Tim Hortons, presented plans and witnesses regarding the issue.

The board questioned the plans to make the sign bigger and consulted with Board Attorney Gregory Vella and Engineer Kurt Otto before unanimously approving the bigger sign.

A resolution of the matter will take place at the next meeting on March 16.
