NORTH BRUNSWICK – A man who faces charges stemming from an incident earlier this year is one again the subject of a police investigation.

A patrol unit attempted to stop a motor vehicle near Walmart in the Fashion Plaza Shopping Center on Route 1 south in North Brunswick around 8:03 p.m. on Feb. 24.

The driver reportedly refused to stop and led the officer on a pursuit through the shopping center property, according to information provided by the North Brunswick Police Department.

The suspect SUV eventually left the roadway, drove off road, continued through a wooden fence, lost control, and struck an apartment building on the other side of the off-road area, police said.

The driver allegedly fled on foot, but was apprehended by officers a short time later.

Timothy Williams, 51, of New Brunswick, was charged with eluding police, possession of drug paraphernalia and many motor vehicle violations.

Williams had also been charged in January with commercial burglary.

The building was damaged and turned over to construction officials and maintenance for repair.
