EAST BRUNSWICK — To show students that learning can be all fun and games, the Varsity Summer Academy (VSA) will hold its first “STEM Night 4 Schools” fundraising event and festival from 6-9 p.m. on March 31 to help give back to local schools.

The fundraiser will be held at Fields Sports Complex, 8 Cornwall Court.

Students in grades K-8 and their families are invited to come out for a night of science, technology, arts and mathematics activities to support local schools. All proceeds will directly benefit the local Parent Teacher Associations and Parent Teacher Organizations of the attendees.

“Families from all local school districts are welcome to attend, and we are expecting attendance from over 25 schools. When families purchase tickets, they are asked which school they would like the proceeds of their tickets to go to, so we can properly distribute the funds,” said Michael Pilato, owner of VSA.

The events during the evening will include more than 20 STEM activities, prizes, live music by DJ Skip, snacks and refreshments, and a live game show at the end of the night.

“‘STEM Night 4 Schools’ was designed to celebrate the love and excitement that education can bring when presented in a way that is engaging for children,” Pilato said. “We wanted an entertaining night to bring funds to local schools to be used to enhance the educational needs of the various school districts.”

VSA is a 1-6-week enrichment program for children entering grades 1-8. The teachers are certified in New Jersey and work with teacher assistants, using grade-level standards to build a well-rounded curriculum, according to the VSA website.

“VSA will be entering its third summer season, and this is the first year we are hosting this spectacular event,” Pilato said.

Ticket prices are available online and will increase as the date of the event gets closer. To purchase tickets, visit www.varsitysummeracademy.com/stem-night.
