The Princeton University Tigers punched their ticket to the NCAA basketball tournament by winning the inaugural Ivy League tournament over the weekend at the Palestra in Philadelphia., In the first game Saturday, the Tigers defeated Penn 72-64 in overtime. In the championship game Sunday, Princeton handled Yale 71-59., The Ivy League tournament championship win, the 19th consecutive victory for the team, assured the Tigers of an NCAA berth. That earned the team a No. 12 seed in the West Regional of the NCAA Tournament and it will head to Buffalo, N.Y. to face fifth-seeded Notre Dame. The game will take place Thursday at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center at 12:15 p.m. ET and will air on CBS., According to the university’s website, this is Princeton’s 25th NCAA Tournament and first since 2011 as the Tigers went 14-0 during the Ivy League regular season., Princeton has faced Notre Dame three times, twice in South Bend and once, the last meeting, in Princeton. That last game saw Princeton upset the No. 2-ranked Irish 76-62 on Jan. 3, 1977, in Jadwin Gym. The other two meetings were a 35-22 Irish win in South Bend on Dec. 31, 1927 and an 80-66 loss to the 13th-ranked Irish on Dec. 7, 1974.
