KELMER – obit

Charles G. Kelmer, Sr., March 26, age 93.
Devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Charles was born March 9, 1924 in Union. He was a long time resident of East Brunswick Township. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Hazel Rose Kelmer and his son Charles G. Kelmer, Jr. He is survived and missed by his daughter and son-in-law Elsie and Carl Syx of East Brunswick,  his daughter-in-law Diane Kelmer of Glen Lyon, PA, his grandchildren, Thomas and Donna Syx of South River, Kelly and Brian Abbott of Glen Lyon PA, and Krissy and Frank Knorek of Nanticoke, PA. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Thomas Syx Jr., Zoe Abbott, Lilly Abbott, Christopher Knorek, Paul Borginis and Lillian Borginis.
Charles is a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, where he earned the American Theater Ribbon, the European African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart Medal and the Victory Medal. During the war, he trained with the 814th Tank Destroyer Company in Texas until being sent to Infantry Training in England where he served with the 69th Infantry Division until wounded. After a 3 month recuperation period, he served in France with the Heavy Automotive Maintenance Company. Charles is also a retiree of the Permacel Company.
Visitation and Services with be 10:00 AM, Friday, March 31st at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
