NEW BRUNSWICK — State Theatre New Jersey has appointed Edison resident Luis O. De La Hoz, vice president of Intersect Fund, as a new member of its Board of Trustees.

“We are thrilled to welcome Luis De La Hoz to our Board of Trustees,” said Scott Fergang, chair of the State Theatre Board of Trustees. “State Theatre New Jersey is fortunate to have found such an experienced and dedicated individual with an undeniable passion for the arts.”

“I am excited to join State Theatre’s Board of Trustees,” said De La Hoz. “My goal is to help the State Theatre reach the Hispanic community and to strengthen the connection to the cultural heritages of the 22 Latin American countries.”

“Luis is a great addition to our Board,” said Tom Carto, State Theatre New Jersey president and CEO. “He is a passionate and active ambassador for the arts and will help contribute to our exciting upward momentum.”

De La Hoz is the vice president of the lending team at Intersect Fund, a nonprofit micro-lender and certified CDFI based in New Brunswick that provides training, coaching and capital to low-income, minority- and women-owned businesses throughout New Jersey. De La Hoz is also a founding partner and manages the New Brunswick branch of MarMar Enterprises, a tax preparation and financial services firm.

In 2010, De La Hoz was appointed chair of the Central New Jersey Small Business Council of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce to address the needs of Hispanic business owners in the region. In 2012, he joined the board of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (SHCCNJ). That same year, he was granted the Business Advocate of the Year Award in 2012, a distinction for corporate and government advocates who have contributed to and demonstrated exemplary excellence and leadership in business. He has served as vice chairman of the SHCCNJ since 2016.

He has also received the 2013 Businessman of the Year from the Perth Amboy Merchants Association Inc. in grateful recognition for his contribution and devotion in building a better business community.
