ALLENTOWN – The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association have announced that Ann Laurie Fratticcioli of Ann Laurie, LLC, Allentown, will serve as chair of the Community Teams Committee for the 2017 Central New Jersey Heart Walk scheduled for Oct. 7 at Arm and Hammer Park, Trenton.
The Central New Jersey Heart Walk, locally sponsored by NRG Energy, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Capital Health and NJM Insurance Group, brings hundreds of families, organizations and businesses of Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset and Hunterdon counties together annually for a fun event filled with cardiovascular wellness, according to a press release.
As chair of Community Teams, Fratticcioli will manage a volunteer committee whose mission is to recruit and grow community teams for the Heart Walk.
Community teams are made up of friends and families who wish to make a difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke, and are often formed to raise money in honor or memory of a loved one, according to the press release.
Heart disease and stroke are the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 leading causes of death, according to the press release.
“I am committed to helping the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association create a culture of health by recruiting and cultivating community teams in central New Jersey,” Fratticcioli said. “After all, the community teams are the true ‘heart’ of the Heart Walk.”
“The community teams are such an important part of the Heart Walk and I can think of no one better to lead this committee than Ann Laurie,” said Pat Coleman-Boatwright, Survivor Ambassador and volunteer for the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. “It is through family and friends that we can spread our lifesaving message to help the community live healthy for good.”
The Central New Jersey Heart Walk is expected to draw about 3,500 participants who will take steps to be healthy for good on a non-competitive 1- or 3-mile walk while raising an estimated $420,000 to fund research, education and community programs, according to the press release.
