Cheers & Jeers

Cheers to The Voice
for some brilliant voices. Even though we wish powerhouse belter Felicia Temple had survived the Knockouts, there are still enough hopefuls—including roof-raisers Casi Joy (pictured) and Ashley Levin—to have us singing this season’s praises.

Jeers to Pepsi
for putting Kendall Jenner (pictured) on the front lines. How tone-deaf can a company be to use the real struggles of people of color for a protest-themed ad that focuses on a reality starlet who’s whiter than Crystal Pepsi?

Jeers to DirecTV
for unseating Kingdom. The satellite service has royally screwed over fans of its MMA drama starring (from left) Jonathan Tucker and Nick Jonas by knocking it out of the schedule after this summer’s third season. Low blow, folks.

Cheers to 13 Reasons Why
for being the No. 1 reason we love binge-watching. In addition to standout turns by leads Dylan Minnette (pictured) and Katherine Langford, Netflix’s A-plus adaptation of Jay Asher’s twisty novel about a teen’s suicide is elegant, important and our new obsession.
