Individuals who need a wheelchair ramp to enter and leave their home may be able to receive assistance from Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County, which serves municipalities in the northeast and western portions of the county.
According to Habitat for Humanity, the organization is looking to assist low to moderate income homeowners who are in need of a wheelchair ramp that would allow them to enter and exit their home safely and easily.
The following program qualifications apply:
• An applicant must be a senior citizen or a disabled individual
• An applicant must have the ability to contribute to a portion of the cost of the improvement
• An applicant must meet income guidelines
• An applicant must own his own home.
Once a wheelchair ramp project has been approved at an individual’s residence, skilled volunteers and Habitat for Humanity staff will build the ramp. Building code restrictions may apply at certain locations.
Communities served by Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County are Aberdeen, Allentown, Atlantic Highlands, Colts Neck, Deal, Eatontown, Englishtown, Fair Haven, Farmingdale, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Hazlet, Highlands, Holmdel, Howell, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Long Branch, Manalapan, Marlboro, Matawan, Middletown, Millstone Township, Monmouth Beach, Ocean Township, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury Township, Tinton Falls, Union Beach, Upper Freehold Township and West Long Branch.
