Children’s yoga program begins May 2

The North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services (DPRCS) is offering a Kids Yoga program on Tuesday evenings from May 2-23 at the North Brunswick Senior Center, 15 Linwood Place.

Classes for ages 4-8 is from 5-5:30 p.m., and from 5:30-6:15 p.m. for ages 9-12.

Each class is age-appropriate and is quite different from a typical adult yoga class. Through the use of fun poses, music and yoga stories, the class will include basic stretching exercises that promote strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Breathing and visualization techniques and games will teach children how to focus, relax and develop self control.

Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat as there are only a limited number of mats to lend.

The fee is $30 per child.
