Resident takes issue with “excessive noise” from JFK EMS

Granted I live at a busy intersection in Metuchen near JFK Hospital. I accept that emergency vehicles will regularly traverse the area with their various sirens, sounders and lights. Unfortunately, JFK EMS chronically uses its noisemakers in an excessive, erratic, unnecessary and abusive manner–ignoring the quality of life of the neighborhood.

On numerous occasions–all documented by my scores of email complaint to the JFK EMS supervisor, the JFK Board of Trustees asst. director, the municipal clerks and officials of Edison and Metuchen, the abuses and recurrent instances of SOUNDER TERROR persist.

For example: Wild/constant sounder use–regardless of conditions (even in the middle of the night and in slow traffic/holiday weekends); sounder use as an apparent weapon–pumping it in machine gun like fashion to apparently make the vehicles ahead disappear; [and] wild non-uniform use of sounder cadences–like a contest to see who’s more creative.

I recently saw a unit tailgate a school bus with sounders full-bore–terrorizing occupants and pedestrians with fingers in ears.

Just as culpable as the EMS operators are, the JFK supervisory/executive personnel and their municipal enablers are all on notice of these chronic abuses. To me, [this is] gross negligence.

This JFK arrogant indifference to the quality of life/reasonable expectations of neighbors is a disservice to affected taxpayers and must stop.
