Eagle Scout awarded for building terrarium at elementary school

EAST BRUNSWICK – Andrew Lawrence has received a Youth Good Citizenship award certificate and pin in recognition of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

East Brunswick Boy Scout Troop 223 held an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on April 23 at the East Brunswick Elks Lodge.

Jersey Blue Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapter Past Regent Susan Luczu presented the awards to Andrew, who led the construction of a display case and terrarium table at the Bowne-Munroe School in East Brunswick.

Andrew successfully planned, secured funding and recruited scout and leadership volunteers to provide the labor to complete his Eagle project, serving as the project manager for the construction and placement on-site, according to information provided by DAR.

The project involved 15 volunteers and 70 work hours to complete and was a coordinated effort between Troop 223 and the East Brunswick Board of Education.

The display case will provide an area for the students to display art work and awards and the terrarium table will allow the science class to grow plants and be able to observe the plants as they grow.
