Free tickets available to Shout Down Drugs concert

Music notes

Free tickets are available for the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s 13th annual New Jersey Shout Down Drugs Prevention Concert.

Presented by the New Jersey Broadcasters Association, 14 musical acts comprising 31 New Jersey high school students will perform at 7:30 p.m. on May 19 at the Rutgers University Nicholas Music Center in New Brunswick.
Started in 2005, the Shout Down Drugs initiative challenges high school students to create original music with lyrics that contain powerful peer-to-peer substance abuse prevention messages. The 14 finalists, selected through a peer-to-peer judges panel and public online voting, will each perform their original song and compete for $10,000 in music contracts.
The public can vote for finalists’ songs on www.shoutdowndrugs.com through May 18. These results will be factored into the finalists’ scores on the night of the concert.
Bert Baron, 1450 WCTC radio talk show host, will serve as the concert’s master of ceremonies.
Tickets must be reserved at www.shoutdowndrugs.com or by calling 973-467-2100, ext. 19.
