TINTON FALLS The Borough Council introduced an ordinance that if adopted will reduce the Tinton Falls Police Department’s off duty rates for out of town assignments.
The ordinance came at the request of the Tinton Falls Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Local 251, according to the council agenda.
If approved by the council after two more readings, the ordinance will reduce the police department’s off duty rates for out of town assignments from $100 to $82 per hour, according to the council.
The PBA Local 251 requested to have its off duty rates for out of town assignments reduced because the price was just too high, according Borough Administrator Michael Muscillo.
PBA Local 251 representatives could not be reached by press time.
During its executive session May 2, the council discussed a potential open space acquisition and a collective bargaining contract with the Tinton Falls Police Department, according to Borough Clerk Maureen Muttie.
However, no formal actions took place on either matters, according to Borough Lawyer Michael Supko.
Council President Gary Baldwin and Councilman John Manginelli wore pink bow ties as part of the borough launching its breast cancer awareness campaign.
As part of the campaign, the municipal center’s parking lot spaces had pink lines, a pink bench and pink ribbons on its windows.
