Memorial Day 5K, ceremonies set for May 29

The North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services will hold its 38th annual Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk on Memorial Day, May 29, at North Brunswick Community Park, 2035 Route 130 south, North Brunswick.

Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. The run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their most patriotic clothing.

A Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony will follow at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, Roosevelt Avenue, North Brunswick. Donations of canned goods for the North Brunswick Food Bank will be accepted.

Both events will be held rain or shine.

Also, the Adams Athletic Club will hold a ceremony at 10 a.m. at Sabella Park on Cozzens Lane to honor both Pfc. Joseph Sabella, who was killed in action during the Korean War, as well as his good friend Phil Dellasala, a fellow Korean War veteran who passed away earlier this year. A bench will be dedicated in Dellasala’s honor.
