• The Knights of Columbus will hold their breakfast buffet on May 28 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at their Council Hall, 70 E. Main St., Freehold. All are welcome to attend. The all you can eat breakfast costs $7 per adult; $4 per child under 12; and a family of four is $20. Plain cheese omelet $1 extra; omelet of choice $2. • The Freehold Public Library, East Main Street, Freehold Borough, is displaying items and memorabilia provided by the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, which in 2016 marked its 75th year of service to Freehold Borough and Freehold Township. The items will remain on display through May 31. The first aid squad will begin its annual fundraising drive in Freehold Borough and Freehold Township in June.

• May is Older Americans Month and the YMCA of Western Monmouth County, East Freehold Road, Freehold Township, is inviting residents to attend its National Senior Health and Fitness Day event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 31. There will be fitness classes, health screenings and refreshments, with local businesses and health providers in attendance. The event is free and open to the public.

• The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth Country, Freehold Township, announces its next journaling series, “Our Stories, Ourselves – Jewish Journaling and More,” facilitated by Michele Bernstein Klausner. This series is based on the museum’s new exhibit, “Three Centuries of Growth and Change: A History of Jews in Monmouth County.” The workshop is held Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. •  The Statesir Cancer Center will host its 10th annual Cancer Survivors Day event on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at CentraState’s Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, Freehold Township. The free event is open to anyone who has been touched by cancer and will include brunch, a discussion and demonstration of sound therapy by CentraState clinicians, a vendor fair, and other activities. • The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, Freehold Township, will feature a presentation by Barry Jacobson about the 1950s TV program “Your Show of Shows” at 2 p.m. June 25. In the mid-1970s, Jacobson worked for the show’s creator, Max Liebman. Jacobson will display artifacts from and show original kinescope clips of the program. • The Monmouth County Audubon Society will host a bird walk to look for nesters and shorebirds on Sandy Hook in northern Monmouth County. The event will take place on June 22. Meet at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the old visitors center, just north of Lot E (1.8 miles from the park entrance). The event is open to the public and participation is free. • A meeting of the Monmouth County Retired Educators Association will be held on June 13 at the Spring Lake Manor, Spring Lake, at 11 a.m. Monmouth County Surrogate Rosemarie Peters will discuss wills and the Surrogate’s Office. The association’s annual philanthropic award will be presented. Members are asked to bring a non-perishable donation for the food bank and school supplies for Bridges at the Shore. • The Monmouth County Retired Educators Association will sponsor a member and family picnic at Oak Tree Lodge, Wall Township, on June 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be food, entertainment, games and activities. • A Memorial Day service will be held at 8:30 a.m. May 29 at Elks Point, Broadway and East Main Street, Freehold Borough. The service is open to the public. The 143rd Freehold Memorial Day parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. The parade route is along Main Street.

• The Jim Hall Memorial Homeless Vets Motorcycle Run and BBQ/Picnic will be held at noon June 24 at Jackson Elks Lodge No. 2744, 1059 East Veterans Highway, Jackson. Tickets are $25. Registration for the ride starts at 9 a.m. and the ride kicks off at 10 a.m. Food, beverages, entertainment by the Mangos and vendors. Proceeds of the day benefit homeless veterans. • Look for turtles, egrets, herons, ospreys and other wildlife during a boat tour of the Manasquan Reservoir, Howell. Each 45-minute tour leaves from the Visitor Center, Windeler Road, Howell. Tours are offered at the top of the hour from 2-5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, May 6 through Sept. 4. Wednesday tours are offered at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. from July 5 through Aug. 30. Evening tours are offered on the first Friday of each month May through September; call 732-751-9453 as times vary for the evening tours. All tours are weather and water level dependent. The fee is $6 per adult and $4 per child age 12 and under.

• The Deep Cut Orchid Society meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month (June 13) at the Monmouth Reform Temple, 332 Hance Ave., Tinton Falls. There is a speaker, refreshments and a discussion of plants on the show table. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome.

• The American Association of University Women Freehold Branch is accepting book donations for its 2017 used book sale. With the exception of Reader’s Digest condensed books and textbooks, all books in good condition are appreciated.
