HOWELL – An applicant’s plan to construct three commercial buildings was carried for the fourth straight time without being heard during the May 18 meeting of the Howell Planning Board.

An application filed by SL Homes Inc., as applicant, and Savino Savo, as owner, seeks approval to construct three commercial buildings to include a shopping center and two restaurant pads on a parcel on Route 9 north, just north of Casino Drive, according to the board’s agenda.

The application of SL Homes was partially heard on Dec. 15, but since that date no additional testimony has been presented to the board or members of the public. On that evening, the application was carried to the board’s Feb. 16 meeting.

On Feb. 16, no testimony was heard and the application was carried to March 2. On March 2, no testimony was heard and the application was carried to May 4. On May 4, no testimony was heard and the application was carried to May 18.

At the beginning of the May 18 meeting, the board announced that attorney Jan Wouters, writing on behalf of the applicant, requested that the application be carried to the board’s 7 p.m. June 15 meeting. Wouters granted a time extension needed for the application to be heard.

The board also received communication from attorney Robert Munoz, writing on behalf of his client, Gutierrez Properties LLC – White Oak 20.01. The applicant had been seeking approval to use a 6.2-acre portion of a property on Lakewood-Farmingdale Road as a storage yard for construction materials.

Munoz notified the board he was withdrawing the application, stating that the project will be abandoned and the property will return to a farming use.

Munoz also represents Gutierrez Properties LLC – Daisy 21.01, which is seeking municipal approval to use a different property on Lakewood-Farmingdale Road as a storage yard for construction materials.

This application has been placed on hold before the Planning Board and Munoz indicated he will appear before the Howell Zoning Board of Adjustment for an interpretation relating to certain aspects of the planned use of the property.
