A group crosses a small makeshift bridge along the Charleston Springs trails on a sunny and warm day on April 24. The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, the oldest environmental group in New Jersey, is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Middlesex County youth entering grades 3-6 are invited to attend a fun, educational program that will help them learn about and care for the environment.

Eco-Ventures at the EARTH Center is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Aug. 21-25 at the EARTH Center, located in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave., South Brunswick.

Each day’s events will have a different theme. Hands-on activities will explore topics such as ecology, water and resource conservation, climate change, alternative energy and earth-friendly gardening. Most days will begin with a team-building exercise to help students get acquainted.

On Aug. 23 the activities will feature a field trip, and later in the week, students will create public service announcements.

The registration fee of $115 includes program materials, a peanut-free snack, beverages and a parting gift. Attendees are expected to bring their own brown bag lunch.

The registration deadline is Aug. 1.

Arrangements can be made for attendees with special needs.

To register, contact the Middlesex County 4-H office at 732-398-5261.
