EATONTOWN Aiming to give back to the men and women in blue, 10-year-old Maxwell Lanfrank is the owner and creator of “MoMax” an all natural products company that strives to make organic merchandise that is safe for children, smells good and is affordable.
Making products ranging from Max-i-mum Smooth Shave Soap to Maxy Relaxy Bath Bombs, Maxwell also created a special line of lip balm and hand sanitizer called “Behind the Blue” to support law enforcement officers.
“My dad is a corrections officer [and has been] for 22 years and I have so much respect for what the law enforcement do everyday. I wanted to make a lip balm and sanitizer just for the law enforcement. I came up with a very specific flavor for them, spearmint. The line is called ‘Behind the Blue‘ and I designed a package with a blue line on it. I always carry these with me and if I see police officers working, I go up and give them a lip balm or a sanitizer and hand them a card thanking them,” Maxwell said.
With his own formulas, Maxwell makes all of his products at home with the exception of his lip balms, sanitizer and MaxSwell sticks which are now made in an organic manufacturing facility, according to Maxwell’s mother, Kristen Lanfrank.
On top of giving out his specialty lip balm and hand sanitizer to local officers, Maxwell said he and his father visit police stations all over Monmouth County.
“I visit a police station with my dad every two weeks and I take a tour and hand out my products. So far I have gone to Eatontown, Tinton Falls, Wall, Rumson, Sea Bright, Oceanport, Monmouth Beach, Long Branch, Little Silver, Red Bank. My goal is to go to all of Monmouth County police stations by the end of this year, then I will go to other counties after. I put all the pictures on my Facebook and Instagram,” Maxwell said.
When someone buys a product from the Behind the Blue line, Maxwell donates a portion of profits to the non-profit organization, Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS).
“If I sell any of the products from this line, I give a portion of my profits to the [Concerns of Police Survivors] organization. I already have sent them three checks. [The organization] gives services to the families of officers that died in the line of duty,” Maxwell said.
A self proclaimed germaphobe, Maxwell said the idea behind the creation of his company all started with him wanting to make his own hand sanitizer.
“I decided to create MoMax because I wanted to make products that are organic, healthy and safe for everyone. I love researching and creating different things. I am a germaphobe and wanted to make a hand sanitizer that was all natural that had aloe to make your hands soft. Also my four year-old sister used to eat my lip balms and I realized they had petroleum in it, and petroleum is in gas so that can’t be good to eat,” Maxwell said. “I always make things that I need in my life, like my Good Night Sweet Heart Pillow Spray…. I currently have 14 products and have more ideas. I just started a new line last week called MaxSwell and it is organic zinc stick SPF 30, organic face and body stick, all natural muscle rub and organic surf wax.”
Maxwell said that despite his busy schedule he wants to continue to make more products.
“I like having a business, but it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time. I go to school, play football and go to business meetings and police station visits numerous times a week. I want my products to be in every store and I want to keep creating products. When I graduate college, I want to be a pilot,” Maxwell said.
