North Brunswick promotes officers

NORTH BRUNSWICK – Three police officers celebrated an extra special Police Week in North Brunswick.

Detective Frank Vitelli, Officer Robert Frangella and Officer Craig Patton were promoted to the rank of sergeant during the North Brunswick Police Department’s Police Week ceremony, held at police headquarters on May 18.

Vitelli was hired as a patrolman in 2004 and has been a member of the Detective Bureau since 2014. He acted as the liaison for Megan’s Law and juvenile and domestic violence offenders, according to information provided by the Office of Mayor Francis “Mac” Womack.

Vitelli has received numerous commendations and letters of appreciation, including a lifesaving award.

Raised in North Brunswick, he graduated from St. Joseph High School in Metuchen and attended Seton Hall University.

Frangella was hired by the township in 2005. He has been part of the Uniformed Patrol Division.

He received several letters of commendation and appreciation, including a lifesaving award and a medal of merit.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Caldwell College and a master’s degree in human resource training development from Seton Hall University, according to the mayor.

Patton joined the North Brunswick Police Department as a patrolman in 1993. His assignments included Community Operational Policing Bureau and Burglary Task Force. He was transferred to the Traffic Bureau in 2006.

He has received numerous commendations and letters of appreciation, including a lifesaving award and a medal of merit award. He and other officers evacuated several trapped residents from a building engulfed in flames, according to the statement.

He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Middlesex County College.
