Old Bridge High School names alumni to Wall of Fame

OLD BRIDGE – The Old Bridge High School community inducted three graduates to its Wall of Fame.

The three newest members are William Boland, Madison Central Class of 1988; Ted Maines, Madison Central Class of 1976 and Mark Schlissel, Madison Central Class of 1975.

Boland, the senior producer of the YES network, is the recipient of many Emmy Awards.

After graduating college, he worked at ABC Sports from 1994–2001. During his career he helped produce Super Bowl XXXIV, Monday Night Football, the Indianapolis 500 and the Kentucky Derby. He also served as a production associate for NBC at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, according to information provided by the Old Bridge School District.

Boland is responsible for the creation of television favorites, such as “Pre-Game/Post-Game Shows” and “The Hot Stove.”

Maines launched his first design firm in 2007, and in 2012 opened a new showroom rebranded as Ted Maines Interiors. He has built one of the most financially and commercially successful residential and commercial design companies in Central Florida and was awarded Orlando Magazine’s Best Of – Best Interior Design Firm for 2013, 2014 and 2015, according to the statement.

He is an active member of the Central Florida community, affiliated with numerous organizations that support children, human rights and the arts. He was recognized for his community service and philanthropy by being named one of Orlando Magazine’s Central Florida Most Powerful 50 People from 2012-15, according to the statement.

He is an avid supporter of The Holocaust Center’s UpStander program, which his husband Jeffrey Miller founded in 2010.

Schlissel graduated from Princeton University Summa Cum Laude. He received a doctoral degree from Johns Hopkins University of Medicine, where he served his residency in internal medicine. He conducted postdoctoral research as a Bristol Myers cancer fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, according to the statement.

He served as a faculty member at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a number of awards and fellowships for his research and teaching. He also worked in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California at Berkeley, where he advanced to full professor in 2002.

He also served as the provost at Brown University, where he was responsible for all programmatic and budgetary functions within Brown’s schools and colleges.

Boland and Maines attended the annual ceremony on May 22.

Schlissel, who is the president of the University of Michigan, was unable to attend due to a work commitment there. According to Vice Principal Sally Fazio, Schlissel will be awarded his plaque by three Old Bridge High School graduates from the Class of 2017 who will be attending the university in the fall, according to the statement.

In addition, during the Senior Awards night, more than $100,000 was distributed to 171 students for excellence in academics, arts, athletics or community involvement.
