Red Bank Regional High School earned the honor roll due to its prowess on the fields and on the courts.

Niche, a Pittsburgh-based website that ranks schools and neighborhoods, has designated Red Bank as one of the top high schools for athletes in New Jersey, with a rank of 50 in its top 100 schools in the state. Red Bank was also ranked at No. 5 in Monmouth County.

The high school received an A+ grade by Niche for clubs and activities and an A overall for sports.

Joining Red Bank on the Niche ranking’s top 100 from the county were Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (22), Long Branch High School (27), Middletown High School South (tied at 45), Ocean Township High School (tied at 45), Neptune High School (52), Howell High School (73), Colts Neck High School (83), Matawan Regional High School (89), Freehold Township High School (92), Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch (96) and Wall High School (97).

Ranked as the No. 1 high school for athletes by Niche was Pascack Valley High School,  which is located in Bergen County’s Hillsdale.

According to Niche, the 2017 Best High School for Athletes ranking is based on data from the U.S. Department of Education and reviews from students and parents.

“[Niche’s athletic ranking is] an honor we have not received before,” said Marianne Kligman, Red Bank High’s community information officer. “This is a major honor for the high school.”

“We were thrilled to receive this recognition,” said Red Bank High Athletic Director Del Dal Pra in a press release from the district. “What most people do not realize is that Red Bank High has the largest number of sports teams of any public school in Monmouth County at 26 varsity, 16 JV and nine freshman teams.”

Red Bank’s overall Niche grade is an A and it is ranked No. 57 for the top public high schools in the state.
