COLTS NECK – The Colts Neck Recreation Department will hold its annual Cougar Basketball Camp at Colts Neck High School.

There are three sessions of the camp: Session one for girls ages 7-14 from June 26-30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Session two from July 10-14 and Session three from July 17-21. Both July sessions are for boys and girls ages 7-14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fee is $175 for Session one and $190 each for sessions two and three. The fee for multiple sessions will be $345 for session one and two or session one and three; $355 for sessions two and three; and $500 for all three sessions. Tuition includes a camp shirt, activities, trophies, awards and guest lectures.

Campers should bring shorts, a T-shirt, athletic socks, sneakers, a towel and a water bottle, and should have their name printed on all belongings.

According to the Recreation Department website, “The primary emphasis of this camp will be on the development of fundamental skills through group and individual instruction and game experience.

“Instruction and drills in fundamentals will be accomplished daily through group lectures, small group drills and fundamental stations.

“All campers will be grouped according to age, physical maturity, previous experience and overall ability. A complete staff of high school coaches and high school players with previous camp coaching experience will conduct the scheduled sessions under the direction of Coach Lou Piccola, as well as be available for individual assistance on a daily basis.

“Awards will be given to the winning team members, to most improved players, to contest winners and to outstanding campers in selected categories as selected by the staff.”

The camp is run by Piccola and coach Glen Jansen. Piccola has coached the Colts Neck boys varsity team for 16 years. Jansen has been the Colts Neck girls varsity coach for four years.

The Recreation Department is requiring all participants to sign up through Community Pass, a secure registration system which accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards. The link to Community Pass can be found at http://cnrecparks.com/
