Holmdel ‘s mayor and former committeeman win primary

HOLMDEL —After months of campaigning, incumbent Republican Mayor Gregory Buontempo and Rocco F. Pascucci won the Township Committee primary election.

A Republican and former committeeman, Pascucci won 38 percent (800) of the votes and Buontempo won 35 percent (742) of the votes, according to the Monmouth County election results.

A total of 2,068 votes were submitted, according to the Monmouth County election results.

With only two seats open on the township committee, this year’s primary election was contested due to three candidates running: Buontempo, Pascucci and Dennis Pavlik, a Republican and former Board of Education member.

Pavlik won 24 percent (511) of the votes, according to the Monmouth County election results.

Buontempo and Pascucci will move on to run against Democratic candidates Barbara Singer and Lawerence Luttrell in November.
