WOODBRIDGE — The investigation into the fatal crash that killed a 27-year-old Old Bridge man is ongoing.

The incident occurred around 4:38 p.m. on May 31 on Route 440 ramp to Route 9 and the Garden State Parkway, according to Police Sgt. Jim Chessere, head of the department’s Traffic Unit.

The police sergeant said the garbage hauler tractor trailer truck was coming off the ramp and the driver was unable to stop for the traffic before him.

Chessere said because of the angle of the road, the truck jumped the side curb embankment causing it to tip over on the two vehicles that were in front of the truck.

Brian Claussen was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver and the other driver of the other vehicle suffered injuries, Chessere said.

Woodbridge Police, Emergency Medical Services, New Jersey State Police and the Woodbridge Fire Department were at the scene.

The roadways were closed well after midnight, Chessere said.
