Raceway to host fireworks, music on July 2

Freehold Borough is preparing for its annual Fourth of July celebration. The Independence Day event, will take place on July 2 at Freehold Raceway.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., according to Susan Greitz, chairwoman of the Freehold Borough Recreation Commission. Admission is free and residents of all communities are welcome to attend the celebration. The rain date for the event is July 9.

The celebration is presented by Downtown Freehold and the Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold Township. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Greitz said the band NRG will entertain guests from 7-9 p.m. The fireworks production will be preceded by Freehold native Kason Jackson singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

As a safety precaution, no backpacks, coolers or pets are allowed. Bags are subject to search, according to Greitz.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue this great tradition of celebrating Independence Day with fireworks and live music, and we want to thank Freehold Raceway Mall, the Downtown Freehold Partnership​, iPlay America and the many other sponsors for their support in making this event a reality,” Greitz said.
