Monmouth County Fair to feature pie eating contest

A splendidly messy pie-eating contest will be held on the last day of the Monmouth County Fair, July 30.

According to the Monmouth County Park System, the contest uses pies donated by Wemrock Orchards, Freehold Township. Children age 12 and under will compete at 1 p.m. and individuals age 13 and up will compete at 1:15 p.m.

Those interested in participating in the pie-eating contest can register inside the Home and Garden tent starting at 11 a.m. July 30. Trophies will be awarded to those who win each age group.

The fair will be held at East Freehold Showgrounds, Kozloski Road, Freehold Township, from July 26-30. The event also offers 4-H exhibits, rides, entertainment, home and garden competitions, opening night fireworks, and more.

Fair hours are 5-11 p.m. July 26-28; 3-11 p.m. July 29; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 30. Admission is $8 per person; children 12 and under are free.
