Lisa Marino, who has served as the assistant principal at Holmdel High School for two years, has been appointed as the new principal at the Indian Hill School in Holmdel.

She will assume the role at the Indian Hill School that was held by Dr. Tali Axelrod, who left the district in late June  to become the superintendent of the Alpine School in Bergen County.

The Holmdel Township Board of Education held a special meeting on July 3 to make  the announcement that Marino will oversee the school that houses students in Grades 4-6 and that is located at 735 Holmdel Road.

Marino had started her career in education as an elementary teacher, with the majority of her teaching experience within 4th and 5th grade classrooms, according to Robert McGarry, the Holmdel Superintendent of Schools.

Marino was an assistant principal for the middle school grades in Manalapan before she joined the Holmdel School District district in 2009 as as an assistant principal at the  William R. Satz School, which serves students in Grades 7-8.

Marino holds two Masters degrees in Education— a Master of Art in Teaching from Pace University in New York and a Master of Science in Education from Monmouth University in West Long Branch.

“One of the reasons that our school district and our schools operate as smoothly as they do is because of the excellent assistant principals we have,” McGarry said. “I am pleased that we were able to look within and recognize the talent and expertise that we already possess to continue to drive our district forward. I am so pleased that Ms. Marino has chosen to advance her career with us and to extend her many skills to yet another one of our schools.”
