Jackson police to host National Night Out

JACKSON – The Jackson Police Department is inviting residents of all ages to participate in National Night Out activities from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Jackson Shopping Plaza (ShopRite) at North County Line and Cook roads.

National Night Out will be presented by Jackson PBA Local 168. The international event is celebrated in communities and at military installations around the world, according to the police department.

There will be inflatable amusements, refreshments, games and prizes for children, courtesy of PBA Local 168.

There will be free hot dogs, chips and drinks for all, plus drawings for prizes, compliments of Jackson ShopRite.

PBA Local 168 will sponsor free raffles for bicycles. Buster, the Lakewood BlueClaws’ mascot, will be on hand to greet fans.

Representatives of Jackson’s fire companies will conduct safety demonstrations and emergency response demonstrations. Representatives from community organizations will offer guests information about how to get involved in the township.

National Night Out will will include a Jackson Police Department SWAT demonstration; a demonstration of an automated external defibrillator; demonstrations by the Office of Emergency Management; a demonstration of alcohol impairment goggles; displays of firefighting equipment and vehicles; child identification kits; representatives of the Jackson Volunteer First Aid Squad, the Jackson Police Explorers, the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, the New Jersey State Parole Board and Quality First Aid; music and more.
