Robotics camp open to children with special needs in North Brunswick

Raider Robotix – FRC Team 25 hosted eight elementary school robotics teams at the annual North Brunswick Elementary School Robotics Competition on May 31 at North Brunswick Township High School. The Mad Mechanics and BB Eights from John Adams, the Flamebots and Robostorm from Parsons, Biscuits and Cuddly Rainbow Savages from Judd and LIFE and Megatrons from Livingston Park worked for six weeks with Raider Robotix mentors. The winners for the competition were Mad Mechanics, first place; LIFE, second place and Megatrons, third place. The Achievement Award went to the Flamebots. The Creativity Award went to the Biscuits. The Teamwork Award was given to Robostorm. The Championship Award went to the Cuddly Rainbow Savages.

The North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services will offer a robotics program for children with special needs from July 17-21 in the employee lounge of the North Brunswick Municipal Building, 710 Hermann Road.

Sessions for children in kindergarten through sixth grade will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. Parents should attend class if their child needs assistance.

ConstructU will help campers use the ROBOTIX building system to create robots, robotic creatures, vehicles and other structures and build a project to take home.

The cost is $120 per student.
