Freehold 13U baseball team one victory away from state final

The Freehold Township 13U baseball team, the defending state champion, is one victory away from reaching the state championship game.

Freehold Township will continue its bid to retain the state title when it plays Buena at 8 tonight, July 13, at the Middletown Little League complex that is located at 47 Market St., Red Bank.

Freehold Township earned its matchup with Buena after a dominating effort last evening, July 12, when it scored a 21-0 victory over Bayonne.

A victory tonight will send Freehold Township to the state title game on July 15 at 1 p.m. at the Middletown Little League complex. The loser from tonight’s game will move into the losers’ bracket and play on July 14.

The state champion earns a ticket to the Intermediate 50/70 Baseball League World Series that will be played in Livermore, California, from July 30- through Aug. 6.
