The Freehold Township 13U Little League team is two victories away from winning the Eastern Regional tournament of the Intermediate 50/70 Baseball League in Commack, New York.
Freehold Township, the state champion, will play Maryland today, July 26, at 11 a.m. If Freehold Township wins, then it will play Maryland again today at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to the 50/70 World Series in California that runs from July 30 through Aug. 6
On July 25, Freehold Township opened with a 7-5 victory over Keystone of Pennsylvania. Freehold Township then beat Commack, 12-9 , in nine innings. Freehold Township had lost to Commack, 5-4, on July 23.
Freehold Township had stayed alive with its 12-4 victory over New York’s Gates-Chili, July 24.
