FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – No recommendations were made in the 2016 municipal audit of Freehold Township.
At a Township Committee meeting on July 25, committee members passed a resolution adopting the 2016 audit. Under state law, the governing body of every municipality must have an annual audit of its books, accounts and financial transactions.
According to the resolution, the audit contains no recommendations and because no recommendations were made, officials were not required to prepare a corrective action plan.
By passing the resolution, the committee certified to the state’s Local Finance Board that all members of the governing body reviewed, as a minimum, the sections of the annual audit entitled General Comments and Recommendations.
In other business, the committee passed resolutions to approve the following contracts:
- $331,474 to Hunter Jersey Peterbilt for the furnishing and delivery of two single axle dump trucks;
- $99,788 to Old Dominion Brush Company for the furnishing and delivery of two trailer mounted, self-contained vacuum leaf collectors, 25 cubic yards in size;
- $52,295 to Bob’s Uniform Shop, Inc. for the furnishing and delivery of township work uniforms;
- $50,647 to Lanigan Associates for the furnishing and delivery of police department uniforms;
- $15,382 to Levitt’s LLC for the furnishing and delivery of turf maintenance supplies;
- $11,433 to SiteOne Landscape Supply for the furnishing and delivery of turf maintenance supplies;
- $8,781 to Reed & Perrine Sales Inc. for the furnishing and delivery of turf maintenance supplies.
The committee also passed a resolution reappointing Francis Boutote as a Class II Special Officer (Schools Assistance Officer) for the 2017-18 school year at the Freehold Township K-8 School District.
The reappointment is term-limited to 2017-18 and may be revoked by the Township Committee at any time without cause or hearing, according to the resolution.
According to the resolution, a Class II Special Officer is not permitted to carry a handgun or other similar weapons when off duty and will not be a member of the police force. The special officer’s powers and duties will end upon the expiration of his term or upon revocation of the appointments.
The duties of the special officer are limited and confined to the Freehold Township School District and special duties assigned by Police Chief Ernest Schriefer.
