Italian American scholarships awarded

Two scholarships were awarded to two graduating high school seniors during a reception held by the Matawan Italian American Association at its club house in Hazlet.

Each scholarship was $1,000 and both recipients are grandchildren of current members of the Italian American Association.

The first recipient was Manuel Thomas Carabel, a graduate of Matawan Regional High School. He will be attending Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, and hopes to pursue a career in advertising.

The second recipient was Michael V. Augusto, a graduate of Egg Harbor Township High School. He will be attending Atlantic Cape Community College and hopes to pursue a career in business and criminal justice.
