Citizenship and ESL classes at Old Bridge Library

The Old Bridge Public Library will offer a class on United States citizenship at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14 and will begin registration for its English as a Second Language (ESL) classes that begin in September.

The U.S. citizenship class “How to Become a U.S. Citizen” will be hosted by representatives from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The class will provide an informative overview of the steps and documentation necessary to become a U.S. citizen, including details about the naturalization process. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

In-person registration for the library’s next ESL session will begin on Aug. 21 at the Information Services Desk.

The ESL classes will run for approximately 13 weeks on Tuesday evenings or Wednesday mornings. The Tuesday evening sessions will be held between 7-8:30 p.m. and the Wednesday morning sessions will be held from 10-11:30 a.m.

The sessions will begin September 19 and 20. The classes are available to Old Bridge residents only, with proof of residency required. Classes are free and are taught in small groups by trained volunteers.
