If you recently visited the East Brunswick Public Library, you have noticed there are several changes. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are also completing long overdue and much-needed renovations to our beloved library.
You might be surprised to know that our library still has many of the original furnishings, fixtures and floorings. With over one million visitors annually, this building has adapted and grown in wonderful ways. But, it needs some love and attention.
The renovation process started well over a year ago, with the library making tough decisions. With a plan in place, the staff undertook the daunting task of making it possible with minimal interruption to our services.
Renovations started in earnest in July. Areas are transforming and being repurposed. We recognize that it may present challenges, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
It will be necessary, however, to close the library to accomplish certain parts of this project. This library is closed to the public Aug. 14-29. We never like to close our doors, but this project simply cannot be done without it. Thank you for your understanding and the library looks forward to welcoming you back when we reopen.
Renovation projects are a lot of work and can be stressful. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to recognize our staff for their amazing commitment to the community during this project, and to extend our gratitude to our customers for your continued support.
