In observance of the awareness day, the alliance will present a short program and allow residents to remember individuals who have been lost to addiction, according to the press release.

Information about resources that are available to help individuals who are battling addiction will be available. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

In the press release, alliance members said they want to mobilize a community effort to fight the scourge of addiction and empower community members to be pre-emptive about the issue and to employ strategies and efforts to prevent the abuse of alcohol and drugs.

There is no cost to car show participants or spectators. Registration forms for car show participants are available at www.mtnj.org or by calling the Manalapan Health Department at 732-446-8345. On-site registration for the car show will be accepted (pending space available) starting at 5 p.m. All car show entrants will receive a certificate of participation, according to the press release.

The alliance exists as a catalyst in the community to raise public awareness about alcohol and substance abuse issues. The alliance is a volunteer board comprised of residents and representatives. The group meets monthly. For more information about the alliance, contact David Richardson at 732-446-8345.
