JACKSON – On July 29 the Westlake Tennis Club of Jackson held its annual fundraiser to benefit Autism New Jersey and POAC Autism Services.
The day began with a continental breakfast arranged by Steve Friedland, Howard Lazan and other tennis club members, according to a press release.
The evening’s festivities began at 4:30 p.m. with a wine and cheese party in the clubhouse lobby. Attendees included tennis club members and non-members.
The cocktail hour was followed by a buffet dinner prepared and served by Westlake Hospitality, LLC, with dancing to music arranged by Westlake’s own Patty Gwozdz in the ballroom, according to the press release.
The entertainment highlight was the surprise appearance of “Lights Out,” a four-part vocal tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The members of the multi-talented group delighted guests with their harmonies and humorous antics. Raffle prizes added to the excitement of the night, according to the press release.
The sold out event was attended by 235 people, which represented the largest turnout in the 14-year history of the autism fundraiser.
Ellen Schisler, the associate executive director of Autism New Jersey, spoke about her organization and the importance of the cause on a personal and professional level, and thanked Westlake for its support.
The benefit raised a record $9,000. Special thanks went to Howard and Toby Lazan and Arlene and Steve Friedland, co-chairs, the autism dinner committee, corporate and merchant sponsors, and all other residents whose dedication and donations contributed to a successful event, according to the press release.
