Holbrook wins to stay alive in Little League World Series

The Holbrook baseball team remains alive in the Little League World Series.

On Aug. 19 in a game that was televised nationally on ABC, Holbrook erupted to score a 15-5 victory over Grosse Point Woods-Shore of Michigan in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Holbrook opened the World Series with a 7-6 loss to Fairfield American of Connecticut on Aug. 17. Holbrook needed to win that game on Aug. 19 to continue on in the champions bracket. A defeat would have knocked Holbrook out.

With the victory, the Jackson team will move to play the winner between the Southeast champion, Greenville, North Carolina, and the West champion, Rancho Santa Margarita, California, on Aug. 21 at 3 p.m.

Another victory in that game by Holbrook will send the team to the next round on Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. A loss will eliminate Holbrook.
