FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee is working through the Monmouth County Improvement Authority to lease equipment for use in Freehold Township.
On Aug. 15, committee members introduced an ordinance authorizing the lease of $1.417 million in capital equipment. The ordinance is scheduled for a public hearing and adoption on Sept. 26.
The equipment to be leased is:
- Single-axle dump trucks with an estimated cost of $600,000, a useful life of five years and a lease term of five years;
- Pickup trucks with an estimated cost of $450,000, a useful life of five years and a lease term of five years;
- Tractors with an estimated cost of $165,000, a useful life of 15 years and a lease term of 10 years;
- A passenger shuttle bus with an estimated cost of $80,000, a useful life of five years and a lease term of five years;
- Leaf machines with an estimated cost of $60,000, a useful life of 15 years and a lease term of 10 years;
- Signal sign boards with an estimated cost of $50,000, a useful life of 10 years and a lease term of 10 years;
- A trailer with an estimated cost of $12,000, a useful life of 15 years and a lease term of 10 years.
According to the ordinance, the lease payment will be partially based on the amount of bonds issued by the county to finance the acquisition of the leased equipment and the maximum amount of bonds the county will issue to finance the township’s acquisition will not exceed $1.5 million. The lease terms of each item of equipment will not exceed the item’s useful life.
In other business, committee members passed a resolution authorizing a $55,000 contract for 2017 and a $55,000 contract for 2018 with Jungle Lasers, LLC for implementation and maintenance of Geo3.0, an application that provides software for municipal departments.
Jungle Lasers will implement and maintain Geo3.0 for municipal departments and the fire bureau, according to the resolution. The $55,000 for 2018 is contingent upon the necessary funds being appropriated by the committee in the 2018 municipal budget.
And, the committee passed a resolution authorizing a $30,000 contract with Zone Striping Inc. for traffic striping, with an anticipated term of one year. This was followed by the passage of a resolution authorizing a $15,809 contract with Sherwin Williams Company for one thermolaser road striping system for the Department of Public Works.
Additionally, officials passed resolutions authorizing contracts for the following:
- A $100,734 contract with Storr Tractor Company for the purchase of two Toro Infield Sand Pro groomers and one Toro Spray System, with the groomers costing $55,171 and the spray system costing $45,562;
- A $25,986 contract with Cherry Valley Tractor Sales for the purchase of two Kubota four-wheel drive utility vehicles.
- A $22,354 contract with Aquarius Supply Inc. for the furnishing and installation of control panels for the irrigation system at Opatut Park, with an anticipated term of one year;
- An $18,227 contract with Power Place Inc. for the purchase of two John Deere zero-turn mowers;
- A $17,695 contract with E.H. Wachs for one Wachs skid-mounted, gas engine Trav-L-Vac 300 and Trav-L-Vac Pintle trailer kit;
- A $15,194 contract with Jack Doheny Companies Inc. for jet vac improvements for the utilities department.
