The Garden Club of Metuchen kicks off its fall season on Sept. 11, with its annual “Summer Garden Show and Tell.”  Members will share photos of their gardens from this summer in a slide show, accompanied by refreshments using their gardens’ produce and herbs.

The Garden Club’s mission is to beautify Metuchen through local projects such as the pots on Main Street, the Memorial Park Garden, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the gardens at the Metuchen Library.

Educating members (which range from novices to master gardeners) about plants and the natural environment at monthly meetings is another goal.  The coming season will feature programs on tender bulbs, fairy gardens, floral jewelry, planting and cooking with herbs, and a virtual tour of the New Jersey Meadowlands.

The Sept. 11 meeting will take place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Fryer Hall, 27 Oak Ave., Metuchen.  The meeting begins at 6:45 with light refreshments, followed by the program at 7 p.m.  New members are welcome, as all are invited.
