Seedlings of bilko cabbage, planted by Susan Keymer, at Merrick Farm. The farm, located in Farmingdale, is working with Chef Marilyn Schlossbach to bring farm-to-table foods to Schlossbach restaurants.

The Old Bridge Public Library will hold a program on Fall Planting for a Beautiful Spring at 7 p.m., Sept. 27, at the library, 1 Old Bridge Plaza at the corner of Route 516 and Cottrell Road in the Municipal Center.

The autumn season is a prime time to start planning for spring gardens. A representative from the Master Gardeners of Middlesex County will share tips on preparing gardens and soil as well as information on how to choose the right plants for the colder months.
