Grants supplement educational programs in Spotswood

SPOTSWOOD – The Spotswood Education Foundation awarded more than $10,000 in
grants to educators of Spotswood schools.

A total of $10,016.01 in grants to were awarded to educators involved in 22 grant proposals during a convocation on Sept. 5.

The grants for 2017 are:
 STEM Fairy Tales by Maureen McDonald, Appleby School, for $171.35
 STEM Folk Tales 2 by Maureen McDonald, Appleby School for $171.35
 Mission to Mars by Julie Jay, Spotswood High School, for $204
 New and Improved News by Kevin Boucher, Kristen Carpenter and Erin Glassen, Memorial Middle School, for $250.91
 Aspiring Young Actors by Cara Nascimento, Memorial Middle School, for $354.15
 IXL ELA by Marian Ayad and Marti Hanna, Appleby School, for $356
 Play Code Monkey by Paige Besthoff, Appleby School, for $450
 Ozbots – Coding with Robots by Paige Besthoff, Appleby School, for $763
 Wireless Differentiated Listening Centers by Stephanie Fallon and Gabby Borrelli, Memorial Middle School, for $800.25
 Flipped Classroom: Middle School Math by Mike Francis & Jamie Mahoney, Memorial Middle School, for $1,500
 Digital Broadcasting by Andrew Zaborney, Spotswood High School, for $4,995.00

The Spotswood Education Foundation’s purpose is to augment the financial resources available to the district in educating the children of Spotswood, Helmetta and Milltown. The mission is to fund new and innovative projects that benefit the district, and complement the curriculum and educational programs.
