Sportika will seek permission to hold private parties

MANALAPAN – The owners of Sportika, an athletic training facility on Woodward Road, Manalapan, will seek municipal approval to expand the use of the building.

On Sept. 14, representatives of Field of Dreams LLC (Sportika) are scheduled to appear before the Planning Board to discuss their application and to answer questions from board members, the panel’s professionals and members of the public.

According to a public notice that was published by attorney Peter Klouser, of the firm Helibrunn Pape LLC, representing Sportika, the operators of the sports training center will seek municipal approval to host soccer and basketball tournament play at the location.

The applicant will also seek permission to host privates parties, including bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings and communion receptions, and corporate team building events at Sportika.

Representatives of Sportika will seek amendments to the initial approval for the facility that was granted by the board in 2015.

Sportika’s representatives will seek approval for alcoholic beverages to be brought on-site by customers through private catering companies. Sportika will also seek approval to serve food which is prepared off-site to its clients.

Finally, approval will be sought to amend the facility’s hours of operation from a 5 a.m. opening to a 4 a.m. opening. No site improvements are proposed and the proposed uses are permitted in the Special Economic Development zone where Sportika was constructed, according to the public notice.

The hearing was initially scheduled for the board’s Aug. 24 meeting, but the meeting was cancelled. The Sportika application is now scheduled to be heard on Sept. 14, according to a board official.
