Cheers & Jeers

by Damian Holbrook

Cheers to the Networks
for staging the ultimate
crossover. ABC, NBC, Fox,
CBS and CMT banded
together to simulcast Hand
in Hand: A Benefit for
Hurricane Harvey Relief,
an all-star telethon featuring
Texas native Beyoncé
and her Beyhive’s
A-listiest associates.

Cheers to Andrea Martin
for finally getting the work
she deserves. The Second
City vet has always been
second to none, so it’s
awesome to see her scoring
big laughs as TV’s most
maternal intern on Great
News and as the vainest
mother ever on Difficult
People. Now where is her
damn trophy, Emmy voters?!

Jeers to Marvel’s Inhumans
for being an IMAX-imum
letdown. By debuting their
fall comic book show on the
big screen, ABC has only
magnified the fact that
stars Anson Mount (above)
and Serinda Swan deserve
so much more than this
silliness about space
mutants with magic hair
and a massive CGI mutt.

Jeers to Below Deck
for casting off with a
too-green crew. We have a
sinking feeling that Season
5 is going to be rough
sailing now that Captain
Lee’s Valor has been
flooded with a staff of
clueless newbies like Nico
(above), the Gilligan-with abs
who doesn’t even know
how to tie a knot.
