Girl Scout and Monroe resident Kayla Strych brought the “Thin Blue Line” to the Monroe Municipal Plaza in early September. Her Gold Award project, which included the planning and application of the painted line, aims to honor those officers who serve and protect her hometown. In recognition of her efforts, Monroe Mayor Gerald W. Tamburro and the Monroe Township Council, with the support of local law enforcement, presented Kayla with a proclamation at a Sept. 6 Township Council meeting. Kayla is a Monroe Township High School senior and daughter of Monroe Township Police Division Sgt. John Strych.
