During the trial, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Bina Desai and Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Simret Michael presented evidence and testimony showing Vasquez  on June 24, 2015 followed Alicia Martinez-Izaguirr, 24, of New Brunswick, from her new boyfriend’s house, waited for her while she stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts and fired at her car when she turned onto Docks Corner Road in South Brunswick, but missed.

Quiroz-Vasquez then proceeded to follow Martinez-Izaguirr into the parking lot at 241 Docks Corner Road, where she worked, walked up to her car window and shot her twice in the head before fleeing the area.

An investigation into the shooting led to Vasquez. He was found the day after the shooting in New Hope, Pennsylvania and was arrested during an intensive investigation by Detective Monica Shearer of the South Brunswick Police Department and Detectives Craig Marchak and Grace Brown of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Vasquez is expected to be sentenced in New Brunswick on January 18, 2018 by Superior Court Judge Pedro J. Jimenez Jr.
