Strand concert will raise money for hurricane relief efforts

Music notes

Jersey Shore musicians will get together on Oct. 19 to do what they have been doing for years – playing and singing their hearts out for a cause that will provide assistance to people in need.

Hand-n-Hand Bands at the Strand will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at the Strand Center for the Arts, 400 Clifton Ave. Lakewood, featuring a lineup of performers who are familiar to people who enjoy and follow the Jersey Shore music scene.

Hand-n-Hand Bands at the Strand will be a fundraiser for hurricane relief efforts. Tickets for the show are $20 (no fee) and the event will benefit the Convoy of Hope Foundation to assist the victims of hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, according to Lori Davis, the front of house manager at the Strand.

According to the Strand website, 100 percent of the proceeds, after operating costs, will go directly to the Convoy of Hope, which is based in Missouri.

Davis said the lineup for Oct. 19 features Arlan Feiles, Brue Crew, Chris Daniels, Colossal Street Jam, the Eddie Testa Band, Jo Wymer, Heidi DeFabritus, Sheri Gilmore, Jo Bonanno and The Godsons, Joe Arminio and The Family, J.T. Bowen, Nick Clemons, NRG, Richie Santa, Robert Santa, Soul Cruisers, Step Aside, plus other friends.

One of the performers in the show will be Lee Ottman, who will take the stage with his trio, Acoustic NRG.

Speaking about the event, Ottman said, “We are so thrilled to be a part of this. Giving back to people and being a part of something so much bigger than yourself is really a tenet we all should live by.

“I think most musicians, by nature, have that extra bone in their body that makes them want to share their talent, and love of what they do, to benefit others, well, at least the ones on this bill do.

“I will tell you that after speaking to my guys and most of the band leaders for this show, all ego went out the door and the sole vision was being a positive piece in this important charitable event for such a worthy cause. I know our NRG friends over the years have always been devoted ‘fans’ as well, possessing lots of heart, and we are counting on that for this show,” Ottman said.
